Drum is a versatile musical instrument that can be played in all types of genre, but most common and effective in rock songs. To learn to play the drum is not easy but taking tutorial lessons will definitely, make it easier. Here are some helps for the beginner to make the lessons easier to grasp:

Tip # 1. First thing you have to learn in playing the drums is having a beat. The very basic need of the drums is for you to have a beat so that learning it will be easier. Coordination of your feet with your hands is sometimes difficult for some people. Regular practice and exercising you hands and feet may be a good way to learn coordination between them.

One example of these exercises is to try to get a beat on one foot by tapping the toes, then carefully accompany it by tapping one hand on a table or anything that will produce a sound. Create a rhythm that will be even and pleasant. This exercise can help promote coordination even without using a drum set.

Tip #2. When hands and feet coordination has become natural, you are now ready to go to the next lesson - learning proper timing. Timing is a very important component of music. The drums are the ones who dictate the rhythm of a song and timing is an essential factor.

Being calm and not too hasty in banging the drums helps you get the proper timing. In time, practice and remembering the proper rhythm of the song or piece will make you a good drummer.

Tip #3. Most people don’t know that the drums also have chords.

Drums do have chords, tabs and musical notes, too. Learning these notes will be easier if taking lessons or having a tutor. Understanding the notes is like understanding the song itself. These may help you to be able to learn how to play a song.

Tip #4. The last tip that I could give you is constant practice.

Anybody eager to learn how to play the drums needs practice at least once a day. It is not an easy instrument to learn how to play it so constant practice is a great help for you to learn it fast. Beginners who plan to be good at this instrument may need a lot of time but don’t worry, the results will also be very achieving after.

Every session in a drum lessons course is very important for you to be able to learn in playing it. Having your own drum set will also be a great factor but we understand that it is not a cheap instrument that can be afforded. Improvising a homemade drum set might be a good idea just to have an equipment to practice on.

We’ll if you really are interested to learn this awesome instrument, you should give time, effort, hard work and dedication. After the beginner’s stage you’ll find yourself learning more on your own.
